I'm writing this post from a train. Yup, there goes Olympia, WA! I'm heading down to Portland for a couple days and decided to take Amtrak rather than drive. Beside the spotty internet and the chatty lady that won't hang up her cell, it's been a pretty fun ride so far. ; ) I didn't have a chance yet to post Part 2 of my 2012 project mosaics, so I thought now would be a great time to put together a post and do a little reminiscing about last year's projects. It's also almost the end of January (already?) so I thought why not share what I've been working on during this past month too. It's a mosaic extravaganza!

The summer months of last year had me working on cutting charms for the Mystery Charm Swaps and doing a fair amount of hand sewing. My Gnoma's in the Window quilt included some needle-turn applique and English Paper Piecing as well as some fun to make improv blocks.

As fall arrived, I released a new Halloween themed embroidery pattern with kind of a spooky, Victorian vibe to it. I also had the opportunity to sew a fun table runner project for the Sew Lux Design Challenge Series.

October brought cross stich back into my life (where have you been all this time?). ; ) I also made some cozy scarves, did a little moonlighting with the do.Good Stitches folks, and started working on a Christmas embroidery pattern.

As the holidays ramped up, I finished a quick quilt top with some English Paper Piecing details for a fun blog hop and started a new Fusion Crochet Blanket project that's been really rewarding to work on bit by bit. December finally brought the release of my third embroidery pattern as well as some adventures in bag making. In looking back, I ended 2012 with lots of small colorful finishes, a bunch of quilt tops that are ready to be quilted, and a whole new collection of crafty skills.

Now that 2013 is already in full swing, I am feeling like this is going to be the year of conquering those WIPs and UFOs. I only really have one sewing-related goal this year, and that's to become a better finisher than starter. My recent progress with my long-languishing Swoon blocks makes me hopefully that I'll have lots more completed quilts in 2013.

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Jenelle! It's so easy to start and not finish, isn't it? I was so proud of myself this week for finishing a WIP, when I realized that it was a NEW WIP. Why do I ignore the old ones?

ReplyDeleteWow, your 2013 is off to a busy start! Love your swoon blocks, they're so pretty, I really need to work on some. Hope you enjoyed Portland, when we drove through in January Silas thought it looked like Lego buildings, so now I will always think of Portland as a Lego town! :)
